It's meant more for my family, we'd share something like this.

[ "You may not have it again for some time."

That sort of statement has him stare at the food. He absolutely can't finish it all on his own, but it now might have some value to it for him than bringing on some homesickness. ]


Is food hard to come by, here?

[ This does look and feel like a special occasion to have all the meals it does. But in a regular day... He has no clue. Better to ask. ]
