t's another day, another month, and another time for people to show up in the well. You'd better go rescue them! Never mind the fact that you woke up with a flower in your hands. It's probably fine. Don't mind it at all. It's not like it's hard to ignore a little flower. (At least, not until the effects start to kick in. Better go rescue the people in the well before they do.) Oh, right. Even the people in the well have flowers, so... things are going to be a little ridiculous very quickly, when all of those side effects kick in. Have fun! "Give up--" The words are ground out from between his teeth. This is so frustrating! "I-- do not like to say it, but there is no choice right now."

He doesn't have the will to meet Duo's eyes as he adds, "You had best quit this place as well."

Duo looks less than amused at such a swift and heavy surrender. This wasn't some big, huge, overpowering creature! It was a weird looking chicken!

He sighs, taking out the pistol he carried from where it had been tucked in to the waistband of his jeans. He didn't want to kill the thing (killing forest creatures seemed to be causing them more problems lately, not less), but maybe a good crack will scare it off.

It wasn't like he was using those bullets for much else anyway.

"Stay here."

He maneuvered out from behind the wall, still keeping low and quiet so as not to give himself away until he needed to.

Creature in his sights, he lifted the muzzle just an inch or so above where its head was and fired.

Tonbokiri's heart races with concern for Duo-dono as he takes out the gun and sets up a shot against the rabbit-chicken.

Even though he knows it's coming he jumps when the gun fires, and he can't quite stifle a squeak of fear escaping him. (Just... break him now. The shame of this cowardly behaviour is oppressive.)
Fortunately, the rabbit-chicken also makes a loud cry when the shot goes off, and knowing its peril it scurries off back into the depths of the forest.

Lifting his head further up from behind the wall he looks at Duo with wide eyes and pale expression.

"Th-thank you, Duo-dono. That was-- a help." This not being able to breathe properly is very disconcerting though.

Oh man. He's really messed up from whatever unfortunate flower he got. This is a far, far cry from the confident man Duo met all those weeks ago to work on the fences. A worried expression works over his face even with the success of scaring the creature away and he returns to put a comforting hand on Tonbokiri's shoulder.

"Hey. Try a couple of deep breaths. You're okay now."

He flinches (flinches?!) at Duo's hand on his shoulder. An effect of the other flower, he is certain.

"You are right." He takes a purposeful, deep breath. "With the threat gone I do feel much better." He adds lowly with a sigh, "It is the depth of shame to even call that a 'threat'..."

Looking back up at Duo-dono, he resists the powerful urge to brush the young man's hand from his shoulder, instead saying, "However, I regret to say that I've been subjected to more than one curse today. I must ask you to step back from me."

"Whoop. Retracted." Duo doesn't even question it, removing his hand quickly and putting it up in a mock-surrender with a sympathetic but slightly teasing laugh.

"Geez, how many flowers did you pick up?"

"Two, I believe. One this morning, and the other, well, the fields I've been working have been overridden with it."

He gestures over towards the neighbouring small plots of land, where amongst the furrows of soil the small purple flowers of verbena can be seen growing everywhere, along with a smattering of the white and yellow of edelweiss.

He shakes his head with a sigh and slowly gets to his feet. "I should have just stayed inside today. Indeed, I should return now. I apologize for the trouble, Duo-dono."

Yikes. Poor guy. Hopefully the effects would wear off soon. It was troubling to see him like this.

He got it, though. He wanted to get home and harass Akira for a bit to stave off some of that annoying need to be close to people that the flower was giving him.

"All good. Feel free to contact me on the forum if you need anything."

A lifted hand to wave with an understanding, sympathetic smile and he went back to the path to head home for the evening.

Duo had already gone some distance towards the path before Tonbokiri gathered himself to call out,

"Thank you, for coming by. You truly were a help when I needed it."

He lifts a hand in farewell.
