t's another day, another month, and another time for people to show up in the well. You'd better go rescue them! Never mind the fact that you woke up with a flower in your hands.
It's probably fine. Don't mind it at all. It's not like it's hard to ignore a little flower.
(At least, not until the effects start to kick in. Better go rescue the people in the well before they do.)
Oh, right. Even the people in the well have flowers, so... things are going to be a little ridiculous very quickly, when all of those side effects kick in. Have fun!

[ .... ]
Even negative feelings for others apparently "counts". [ Not that she'd recommend it.
And that he doesn't form relationships easily make her wonder further about him. Perhaps he doesn't trust others as easily, or maybe he's been burned in the past. She can understand the need to be cautious, to keep oneself distant.
She speaks up again, this time reassuring. ] But... please don't feel like you must form these "bonds". If you feel that it's safer for you to not interact with others, don't force yourself. I know that sometimes, forming bonds can... be difficult.
no subject
It's not a question of safety. I just don't think I have the right temperament for things like that. [And there's that pride again! Because compared to admitting that he has trust issues or self-esteem issues it's less embarrassing to just be unlikeable.]

Replacing it back on its spot on the shelf, she selects another one, this one much heavier than the last. ]
What I mean is, you can find someone who shares the same interests or hobbies as you. [ She opens up the book. ] So.
What is it that you enjoy? Reading? [ She flips a page. ] Baking? [ ....Okay, maybe baking is too traditionally feminine of a hobby. ] Marital arts? [ She knows by now not to mention "science!!" to cultivators, though, so she won't suggest it. ] Learning different magics?
no subject
I enjoy reading. Martial arts are a given as well as cultivation. [He thought about it as he ran a finger over the spine of another book.] Music. And I build weapons and mechas.
[And he liked eating sweets but that seemed childish.]
no subject
You build weapons and, ah, mechas...?
[ Well, that certainly sets him apart from the other cultivators here. ]

Our sect's territories include a lot of poor villages and some are fairly far away. Creating a mecha for those areas that can defend them from monsters and ghosts when the need arises helps lighten our sect's load.
no subject
She is paying attention to him and what he says, however, and looks up briefly from the page. It seems that his sect also has a duty to defend the area around them. ]
Forgive me... but in your world, what is a mecha?
[ It sounds like machines, but she doesn't want to assume that what she knows as the colloquial term for mecha are the same as those found in his world. ]
no subject
[The way she asked that though...]
Are they different where you're from?
[And he's not just trying to make small talk here, from the way he turns to give her his full attention in an obvious way, it's clear he wants to know.]

That, or this man's type of spiritual energy is unique to his world. ] ...But to answer your question, it sounds like these mechs are akin to androids and robots from our own world. [ She even used to live with an android in town! Not any more, though. ] They are tools in the very same sense, used for assistance, convenience. [ War. ] Almost all of the technology has been lost, though.
no subject
[So many!]
What are the difference between androids and robots? [He doesn't need to ask how information like that could be lost. It can happen all too easily.] How much information is left? Is there enough to recreate the technology?
no subject
[ To the humans upon the earth, anyway. She does has his answers to the (her world's) distinction between robots and androids, but if she just said the tech is lost, she shouldn't actually know the difference in the first place. ]
I imagine our world would be fascinated with the application of spiritual energy to recreate them. [ She leans forward upon the table. ] Is it something you can replicate here?
no subject
[And technology like mecha, he knows, can just as easily be good or bad. It largely depended on the intentions of the maker and user.]
I plan to try. Though I'd have to see what materials are available and if there's anyone here who can work with metal.
1/2
She keeps that in the back of her mind. That's definitely something she'll have to ask about later. ] A few helpful mechs about the village wouldn't be too bad... [ She pauses, thoughtful. ] If they have no emotion to begin with, if they are the ones to cut down the trees instead of one of us, they won't be effected. We could stop this village from being overrun by them, possibly.
I can... help, if you would like. I know how to weld and build. [ Dad was an architect yada yada ]

[ Months ago she had been captured with a dragon alongside someone else. They had defeated it, but the dragon in particular had a lustrous metallic hide. ] But if I help you, I would like to ask something of you as well.
[ She would help him anyway, but. This seems like a good incentive to use. ]

And in case of danger, they can be stationed near those who cannot defend themselves.
[Really, mecha were quite useful! He'd mostly done the building on his own, but some pieces had required the skills of an actual blacksmith.]
...if you want. I'm not...always easy to work with.
[But she knows where to find some metal! That could be a good place to start.] Of course. That's only fair.
no subject
You mentioned to make weapons... So. Would you assist me in forging one for him? We'll be using the same stock of metal. [ And to inform him of that: ] The metal is from a dragon we fought months ago. When we have time, I will show it to you.
no subject
If I can get the right tools.
[He doesn't want to outright promise something but now that she's asked it he plans to do whatever he can to make it happen.
...hopefully, there's a forge somewhere in town.
Okay, but that metal source.]
A dragon? [He's thinking...celestial creatures. Then again, there were also demons of that sort. More importantly.] We could harvest its bones too.
no subject
I think he'll be quite pleased with a sword. And crafting your mechs.... can help a number of people here, too.
no subject
Though he takes note of it, in case this isn't normal...or in case it was.]
If we ground the bones to powder, we could even mix some into the metal when it's melted.
[Which...there's no telling what'd happen if they did that since these may not be the same dragons he's thinking of.]
A weapon may not always be necessary, but having one is certainly better than not. [He says even though he doesn't seem to be carrying any himself.
And he knows the mechas will be helpful...though if they find this metal he'd rather not take sole credit for it...or any, for that matter.]
no subject
What sorts of weapons are you used to building? [ Beside mechas. ]
