t's another day, another month, and another time for people to show up in the well. You'd better go rescue them! Never mind the fact that you woke up with a flower in your hands.

It's probably fine. Don't mind it at all. It's not like it's hard to ignore a little flower.

(At least, not until the effects start to kick in. Better go rescue the people in the well before they do.)

Oh, right. Even the people in the well have flowers, so... things are going to be a little ridiculous very quickly, when all of those side effects kick in. Have fun!

Life's too short to be paranoid.

[ ... well, that's the usual Maya speaking, huh. ]

Besides, if you're trying to lecture me about being careful, then I don't really think I have too much to worry about from you in particular, right?

Paranoia is bad, but a healthy sense of danger will help ensure your life isn't short!

I think I could take on anything, actually. Even natural disasters!

[ What a thoughtful stalker he is, though??? ]

[He stares at her for a moment.]

Over-confidence could get you killed.

[Also he's not a stalker!]

I can heal.

[ As she stares back, undaunted. ]

You wouldn't need to if you avoided those situations to begin with!

[Why are you like this, Maya?]

Some situations can't be avoided, you know? I've tried.

[His expression smooths back to something calmer, with only a slight furrow of his brow to indicate he even feels anything.]

Is someone troubling you?

Nope! Not here, and not anymore. So you don't have to look so blankly at me, I promise everything's fine!

[ stalkers are a thing of the past now. Especially murderous ones. ]

[...so there had been someone. He makes a mental note of that, in case such a thing should become a problem in the future.

But the frown eases just a little.]

[ besides a stalker-- ]

[ that's a mouthful, sir. ]

[He doesn't sigh but it's a near thing.]

No. SiSheng Peak is the name of my sect. My name is just Chu Wanning.

[...nicknames!? Who would dare give him a nickname?]

And I don't have any.

[ MAYA, NO. ]

[He looks aghast.]

Ridiculous! [And there's an angry sleeve flick.] We barely know each other!

[Does that have anything to do with things? Yes it does because Ancient Chinese etiquette!!]

Isn't that how all friendships start? Give it a day or five and we'll be bosom buddies in no time!

[ She's already decided this, apparently. ]

Still, to give someone a nickname on the first meeting--that's far too familiar!

[Also what is with everyone wanting to be his friend here....?]

I don't think so at all! You can call me whatever you want, in exchange.

[ That's fair, right-- ]

[But...she hasn't done anything wrong, exactly. Improper? Yes. But she's not his student and she hadn't reached a point where he could really justify being angry at her.

[And if it's being extra formal to make a point then he feels he's well within his rights!]

[ Actually, he would, because at least the others had used her first name, but. Maybe he's just being grumpy. ]

What else would I possibly call you?

[He's not asking for suggestions. The question is purely rhetorical.]
