I: Tree Roots are Tripping Hazards But Not Like This

[Well, now the forest is being temperamental. Which means Kaoru's...hanging about. Making sure people are safe. So if you end up being tripped near the forest, you may find yourself being caught by an invisible force before you hit the ground and then you find yourself being righted and places back on the ground.

Or maybe a branch was swinging for you only to be stopped by an invisible barrier. Either way, the event is very quickly followed by Kaoru coming closer.]

II: So About Those Scorpions...?

[She had her arms crossed as she stared into the forest with a frown. Maybe she's contemplating the forest's progression...or the distant mountains that suddenly have colour...?

She brings a hand to her chin.] ...do scorpion tails grow back?

[Who better to drag onto a quest for finding three scorpions than a psychometer?

She was wearing her old uniform because she has the matching boots for them. She grinned at Shiho.]

Okay! Let's find the first one!

[She's in uniform, of course. Though she knows better than to just...let a scorpion try to sting her and hope the uniform protects her.

She follows alongside Maya, her feet about two feet off the ground.]

Do you think there are any fire breathing scorpions?

[The most important part of monster hunting in the woods? Wearing the right uniform, of course!]

So what is a Naga?

[Because she has no idea.]

[As promised, she went ahead and invited Uki to the cafe. But when Uki gets there, Kaoru takes her by the hand and pulls her past the kitchen and dining area to her room.]

Before we eat let's do something fun!

[So...she comes home one day, with her hands clasped at her back.]

Big Brother Caramia~!

[She says in a sing-song voice that is definitely not to be trusted.]

[They are the masters of completing harmless quests!

Well, harmless except to Keigo's pride, maybe.

In her hands is a dress with a really short skirt. One that is clearly shortened from one of the peasant clothes from the town. Hey, she wore this for a while before the whole, 'portals leading home' business.

The hem is a bit...not straight because she sewed it herself, but it's definitely miniskirt length.

She holds it out to him with a grin.]

This is fine, right, Keigo-chan?

[He should have seen this coming when the quest showed up, really.

So here's Kaoru knocking on his door.]

Open up! It's the police!

[ Uki is very easily dragged places. She's small, and she trusts Kaoru implicitly. So it isn't very hard for Kaoru to take her to the back. ]

S-Something fun? Where are we going?

[Rin has to raise an eyebrow at that. She took the quest but didn't know what they were? Even he knew what a Naga was...

And not all of us can have fancy battle uniforms! Rin is stuck with his usual jeans and teeshirt, because it's way too hot for his hoodie even if it would provide an extra layer of protection.]

... snake-woman.

[ That's cheating, Kaoru. You know he's incredibly weak to that. ]

Kao~ru? [ He doesn't call back in nearly as much of a sing-song as she gave, but there is a certain chime to it as he'd yet to pick up on the fact... there's probably not so good intentions behind it. ]

[ He jerks open the door, gazes at Kaoru for a moment and then smiles broadly, clearly happy to see her... ]

[ .....and then sets about howling: ]

It wasn't me! I swear it wasn't! I absolutely, positively did not! I'm innocent, aaaaah!

[Hopefully, in the time they've known each other, Lan Wangji has gotten used to her tendency to wear short skirts because her uniform's skirt is, in fact, really short. She taps her chin thoughtfully.]

Where would you find a Naga anyway?

[She's also keeping half an eye on those trees because she knows they're up to something!!]

[You know what the uniform look like I'm not linking it a second time.

Anyway, Kaoru flicks her hand and sends a branch that's coming their way away.]

Why is this place making these quests more difficult? I thought they wanted us to bring the colour back?

[And the house isn't big so they're very soon in her room. It's...messy. Look, she does her best.]

[If it wasn't a monster in MonHunt then she probably doesn't know what it is.]

So like a mermaid except instead of half fish they're half snake?

[It's not cheating because she's cute.]

[She answers the smile with one of her own.]

I hope not, but also I can't say that that's not a possibility... back when I had to catch a goose, there were some fire-breathing types, too.

[ Well. At least on e of them can fly. ]

I dealt with the fire-breathing geese too...and fire breathing sheep. [Pause.] Actually, every time Shiho and I go to do a quest we seem to run into something that breathes fire...
