[OPEN] the thingmabob that does the job
WHO: Link and YOU!
WHERE: Various (Link's house in Flavo, shops and stores around Chroma, etc)
WHEN: From 5/8 onwards
WARNINGS: N/A (event shenanigans)
WHAT:
[ A new month, a new batch of newcomers, a new annoyance imposed upon them by Chroma. Link would be used to it by now, if not for the unpredictability of each new annoyance. This time, he can at least be thankful that it's more like an embarrassing inconvenience than a debilitating disability.
No matter what he does, Link cannot find his other shoe. This applies to all of his shoes, including those that came with him from home; his right shoe from every pair is missing.
His first idea is to simply go barefoot. He's so accustomed to going barefoot that the soles of his feet are tougher than leather. Unfortunately, it seems that Chroma already thought about that - as soon as he tries to take a step without a shoe on his left foot, he slips on some kind of unseen slime or ice and goes crashing to the ground.
It appears that he's meant to wear only one of this shoes. Fine, then. But his second attempt to get around this problem is also frustrated by whatever curse he's been afflicted with: should he try to wear a mismatching shoe on his other foot, he's overcome by an irresistible need to clean whatever is around him. Only after he's exhausted the dirty items around him does he come to his senses long enough to pull the mismatching shoe off and return to normal.]
[ wildcard ]
[The above is what Link's up to during this event, so feel free to tag him with any scenario that fits into it - whether he's slipping around miserably in town or voraciously cleaning his house in Flavo!]
[ A. oh my god shoes ]
[Solution one and two did not work. But maybe, solution three will: new shoes! New shoes entirely!
Link is wandering the city, limping around awkwardly with one bare foot and one heeled boot. He pokes his head into any shop he can find and calls out to whoever is inside to ask whether they sell shoes of any kind. If not, he continues on, trying to ignore the stares he's getting from other townsfolk. Msot others are afflicted with their own princess-related pranks right now, so hopefully, he isn't making too much of a fool of himself.
But if and when he manages to find a store that sells shoes, he'll stomp inside and grab a few pairs off the shelves. Then, after carefully removing his single shoe, he hops around on his right while trying to awkwardly try on the shoes from the shelf. He knows he's going to have to put a shoe on his left foot first if this is going to work, but it's harder to do this than he expected. After several crashes to the floor and wobbly attempts to stand back up using only his right foot, he accidentally touches the floor with his right in an attempt to keep his balance. His foot immediately slides awkwardly underneath him, sending him back to the floor in a particularly nasty fall.
He groans and grabs his head as he sits up. Why this.]
[ B. THESE SHOES SUCK ]
[Eventually, whether through assistance from someone else or through perseverance, Link gets a shoe onto his left foot. He grins with victory and hurries to put the other shoe on. Finally, a complete pair of shoes! His lower back was starting to hurt from wearing only one shoes, not to mention all the falling and tripping.
Unfortunately, though, it's still not that simple. The matching shoe seems to have disappeared when he wasn't looking. He frowns and searches the area around him, his normally calm visage starting to crack with uncharacteristic frustration.]
What in... [Frowning, he looks to the nearest person with suspicion in his eyes - even if that person had just helped him put on the first shoe.] Where did it go? Did you take the other one?
[ C. cinderelly cinderelly ]
[A few days later, the image of Link hobbling grumpily through the streets is replaced by something strangely different. Now, he's carrying a mismatched shoe under his arm as he goes door to door, beginning in Flavo and working his way through the other districts slowly. If someone were to answer the knock, they'll be greeted with a smiling Hylian. The pack on his back is bulging with irregularly-shaped items.]
Ah, hello... sorry to bother you. My name is Link. Are you interested in any cleaning services today? I'll accept food or unusual items as payment.
OOC: (( hello everyone!! my name is Amanda and I'm on plurk at
lazdo. I'm not new to the game, but I was on a long hiatus during the last CR meme in March and didn't get to plot with anyone as a result. I've also been super busy with RL stuff during April and haven't been around on Plurk much since coming off my hiatus. I'm posting my event prompts as an open log so a) people can see it since I was 5 days late to the event ouo;;; b) I can say hi since I've been a ghost, and b) anyone who's interested in Link CR can tag him, since I haven't done an open Link log/top-level in a very long time! nice to meet you and feel free to PM me on Dreamwidth or add me on Plurk <3 ))
